Department Position
West Virginia University, College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering anticipate filling one Post Doctoral Research position with specialty in Aircraft Sub-System Fault Detection and Accommodation (Position Ref. # 100901). A doctoral degree in Aerospace (preferred), Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field is required with knowledge and experience in artificial intelligence techniques (artificial immune system, genetic algorithms, artificial neural networks, and fuzzy logic) applied for abnormal condition detection and accommodation of aircraft sub-systems, and in modeling and simulation of aircraft and aircraft sub-systems. The prospective candidate should have experience in designing and conducting tests on motion-based flight simulators interacting closely with tests pilots. The prospective candidate should also be proficient in Matlab and Simulink with excellent oral and written communications skills. Initial appointment, with responsibility in research, starting January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010, subject to availability of funding. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Evaluation of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
