Students Conduct Research at University of Birmingham

Two WVU students are conducting research this summer at the University of Burmingham in England. Corey Snyder an undergraduate student and Nick Morris a PhD student are conducting research to characterize tensile strength, thermomechanical properties, fatigue, and basic understanding of structure of two materials. The samples they are conducting experiments on are Primacor, which is an adhesive based polymer in pellet form, and a sample of the snowboard base material for Corey's honors thesis. The snowboard base material is an Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene base which has been sintered and infused with trace amounts of Gallium. For more information go to Corey's blog.
