Barbero Reappointed as Chair



Ever Barbero


Ever Barbero has been re-appointed as chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for the next five years, said Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner dean of the West Virginia University College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.

"I am delighted to re-appoint Dr. Barbero for another five-year term as chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering," said Cilento. "In providing input for his review, students, faculty, staff and administrators all spoke highly of Dr. Barbero’s support for an environment conducive to student learning, and his efforts to attract and retain students."

Barbero received his B.S. in mechanical engineering and his B.S. in electrical engineering from National University U.N.R.C., in Argentina in 1983, and his Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1989. He is recognized internationally for his work on material models for composite materials.

Barbero wrote "Introduction to Composite Materials Design," published by Taylor and Francis in 1999. He has also authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and mentored countless M.S. and Ph.D. graduates currently serving in leadership positions in academia and industry worldwide. Barbero has been a faculty member at WVU since 1989.
