National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

Description

The Hollings Scholarship Program will provide successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $8,000 per year) for full-time study during the 9- month academic year; a 10-week, full-time internship position ($650/ week) during the summer at a NOAA facility.

Eligibility

     Any undergraduate student who is a U.S. citizen; enrolled as a full-time student in the Fall 2008 as a sophomore; possesses a minimum 3.0 grade point average per academic term and cumulative in  all completed undergraduate courses and in their major field of study;  and has declared a major in a NOAA-related discipline, including engineering.

Deadline for Application. Completed applications must be received by January 30, 2009, at 5 p.m. eastern standard time.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Description

Over $100,000 in academic scholarships are awarded annually to ASME Student Members worldwide.  The program is a collaboration between the ASME Center for Education and the ASME Foundation.

Elegibility

You must be a current undergraduate ASME Student Member to login to the online application system. If you are not a member and would like to join, jump to the Student Online Member Application.  The Student Membership Fee is $25.00/year.

Deadline for Application. Applications for the 2009-10 academic year will be accepted online (only) from February 1 through March 15, 2009.

American Institute of Aeronatics and Aestronatics

Description

The AIAA Foundation undergraduate scholarship program awards 30 scholarships of $2000 – $2,500 to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors each year.

Elegibility

Applicant must have a college grade point average of not less than the equivalent of a 3.30 on a 4.00 scale. Applicant shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university at the time of application. Applicant does not have to be an AIAA student member in good standing to apply, but must become one before receiving a scholarship. Applicants may be students of any nationality, not restricted by the U.S. State Department. Applicants must be in full-time study at an accredited college or university within the United States.
