A message from
Department Chair Ever Barbero

Welcome to Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE). We appreciate your visit and wish to know how we can help you; and how can you help us achieve higher levels of excellence in teaching, research, and service to the State of West Virginia, the Nation, and the Engineering community.

Both disciplines, Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering are intertwined in our Department to better serve our students, research sponsors, and society. Over 28 tenure track faculty members, 14 research faculty, and numerous staff, support BS degrees in ME, AE, dual AE/ME, Masters in ME and AE, and Ph.D. in both disciplines, as well as over $10 million of externally funded research.

MAE has embarked on an ambitious plan to modernize its laboratory facilities with the support of generous private donations directed to MAE. Furthermore, we are integrating our undergraduate, graduate, and research programs, as well as our laboratory and supporting facilities into areas of excellence. I invite you to browse through our web site to discover exciting programs in automotive technology, aircraft simulation and control, computational mechanics and fluid dynamics, advanced materials, and more.

Whether you are looking for undergraduate or graduate education, or you are looking for technical expertise, or any other inquiry about Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, I can assure you will be pleased and impressed by the people that welcome you in our Department.
